Monocle Magazine has published a list of the 25 best new retailers in the world and The Department Store takes out the #1 spot!

The April 2010 issue’s headline reads ‘The Art Of The Sell: The World’s Best Shopkeeping and Retail Stars’ and The Department Store has been given the accolade of ‘Best Local Talent Supporter’.

Monocle correspondent Tom Morris met with our staff back in January this year after being flown here to scour the country for the very best in trends, ideas, pop-culture, retail and art. Tom was blown away with The Department Store and quickly compiled a portfolio of the ideas and imagery that make the store tick.

After heaping praise on The Department Store to staff and through the magazine, Tom and the team have also decided to feature the store in their online film series that will cover their top five retail stars of the recent issue.

After opening in October 2009 we’ve had such an incredible response to The Department Store and have created a real local community feel with the businesses that exist within it, the brands and labels we sell, the staff who serve the customers and of course the customers themselves.

ILCSI Sour Cherry Gel Mask | RRP $90 50ml

Water deficient, large pores, oily & dehydrated skins. This sweet smelling, refreshing and anti-ageing gel mask with anti-oxidant properties will nurture your skin creating a more youthful appearance. The fructose and fruit acid content nourishes, vitalizes, tones and hydrates while also tightening pores.
