Today we launch our limited edition Selby Christmas stationery in-store!

Todd Selby has worked with us to produce both large and small shopping bags, plus beautiful gift wrap for Christmas! The artwork for the collaboration was hand-painted by Todd, featuring an array of super-cute watercolour cats and dogs.

We’ve also just released issue #8 of ‘The News’, our in-store newspaper, which features Selby’s cats & dogs on the cover, plus a 16-page feature on New Zealand, photographed by Todd when he was here as our guest in February 2011.

Todd has previously created shopping bags for one other department store in the world – Barney’s New York – so we’re proud to have collaborated with him on this very cool Christmas campaign for you!

Hosted by Ambassadors Jaquie Brown and Karen Walker, The Breast Cancer Cure Research Trust will be holding a Lucky Dip Night this Wednesday 10th August 6pm at The Department Store. It’s an opportunity to hear about the latest developments in their fight against breast cancer and mingle over a glass of wine and shop – with all proceeds going to the Trust!

What is Bastille Day?

Bastille Day is the French national holiday which is celebrated on 14 July of each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July).

It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.
